Good to Know: Renewal date = Expiration date + 30 days

A renewal fee of 10 HNS is required for each 2-year renewal period.

This fee covers mining fees and helps offset operational costs. The fee is automatically deducted from your HNS balance at the time of renewal. Due to the minimal fee, we do not offer bulk discounts.

The Auto-Renew setting is enabled by default.

You can control Auto-Renew for each domain in your Domain Manager. Use the Bulk Update feature in the Domain Manager to manage the Auto-Renew setting for a large number of domains (up to 100,000 per upload). TLDs staked in the Namebase Registry or HNS.ID will be renewed automatically at no cost.

Renewal Notifications & Dashboard

There is a new Renewals section in the user dashboard called "Renewals Forecast" that shows upcoming domain renewals and the total HNS required. Additionally, users will receive a weekly summary email detailing any domains expiring in the next 90 days and the total HNS amount needed.

How it works on our end

Due to the nature of the Handshake blockchain, we must renew names on-chain by sending a RENEW transaction at least one block before a name expires. To be safe, we try to send renewals 4,320 blocks (about 30 days) before names expire on-chain. Therefore, it’s important to note that the estimated renewal date is not equal to the estimated expiration date! Renewal date = Expiration date + 30 days.

IMPORTANT

We can only guarantee domain renewals when they are set at least 10 days before their expiration date. Maintaining the necessary HNS balance is the best way to ensure your domains are renewed on time. Namebase cannot recover expired domains, and they will become available for auction again.
